My first labour ward placement is over. I've caught three babies, been present at three sections, and witnessed five other births ✨ I could go on for hours about this experience, how it's challenged me and changed my practice and made so much of the theory make sense. Today I had the absolute privilege of caring for a woman from the start of her labour until after the birth of her baby. I'm halfway through my first labour ward placement and I started the day feeling fairly confident. I've come out of it exhausted, with sore feet and legs, but with the happiest and fullest heart because of the lovely bond I built with this family. This job is hard. It is intense. But it is the most rewarding thing I can ever imagine doing.
